Keynote speakers confirmed for OGN14

After a few weeks of wrestling with people's summer holidays and the busy schedules of the forthcoming conference season, we've managed to confirm our two keynote speakers for Oxford Geek Night 14.

Michael Mahemoff is a strategist at BT Osmosoft, and he's also the author of "Ajax Patterns". Its in his role as pattern-discoverer that he's going to talk about the "grammar" of common web procedures. Whatever the site, logging in and registering have a common procedural structure which the user is used to, but Michael's going to show us how some sites are changing the way users sign up to web services, and how this can improve the user experience.

Richard Pope , web developer, UI expert andfrequent MySociety contributor, will speak in his capacity as co-founder of the Ernest Marples project. Ernest Marples first discovered postcodes in the 1950s, and successfully tamed them for the populace before they were all rounded up by the Royal Mail. Richard will be talking about how the new project is intended to help free the postcode: but how it can only truly be free with your help.

Now that the keynoters are sorted, I'm off for a long weekend on a narrowboat. In the mean time, you should submit your microslot proposals like billy-o. Assuming I don't fall in the water, I'll stick them up on the site when I return.
