Hi Pam,
unfortunately I've none to recommend. I believe most developers start their own theme these days, beginning with something like Classy or Stable in Drupal 8 core, and adding frameworks like Bootstrap.
I think it's a deficiency of Drupal (compared to, say, Wordpress) that we don't tend to provide out-of-the-box good example themes any more, but it's a lot of effort for someone to put one together so I do understand it.
